PBL

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance Mn Ms for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because we worked together better and we made it stronger buy putting the straws in a triangle.
In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made 3D bubbles and we sold them for 50c each wand and it came with a recipe to make a bubble mixtures




My highlight from this PBL was that we sold some bubble wands and we made some money. Also that we had fun making the bubble wands and trying to make them.

Next time I would make something else because we didn't sell much and for a new challenge. Also  work better as a team buy all putting our ideas together to make something better.

PBL

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was;
What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. Culture is Where you are from, the food you eat, story's and more.
Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage. I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.
In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated on Maori legends. I read, how Maui slowed the sun and Maui and the giant fish I retold the legend of A wise wizard and some curious cats in my own words.

We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script, some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organizing the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama. Do you like drama?

Reflection:
For our production I contributed by helping with being an actress.                   

I think the show might impact on others by teaching them Maori legends.

What I learned about working with others was that teamwork is better than working alone.

Do you open one present on Christmas Eve? Well I know I do.

Did you know that I’m a kiwi and as a kiwi we have lots of traditions. One of them is Christmas did you know it's summer at Christmas time in New Zealand. If your wondering What is New Zealand's culture? Well New Zealand has a very unique culture. The culture of its Maori people affects the language also the arts. We love all of our outdoor sports. So that’s what our culture is. Also at my house most Fridays we have oven fry's there just frozen chips that are cooked up. At Christmas time we go to my Grandmas for lunch or dinner. Also I go to harmony church on every Sunday.

Hello and welcome back today I am going to be talking about Problem solving for that we have been trying to work out lots of problems like this I did it this one yesterday HOW CAN YOU USE 4 7's TO MAKE 78?! but that is hard but you need to use fractions you do it like this 7/7+77=78 cool right yea any way that is what problem solving is.
